Morning: The Old Man was still comfortable.
Evening: Staff nurse Danielle phoned at 18:09. I returned her call a few minutes later. She told me that the Old Man had died peacefully just after 18:00. In the time leading up to his death, his breathing had become laboured. Some of the Eastwood Priory staff had been with him when he died.
When I heard Danielle’s voicemail, I suspected that the Old Man must have died, but I entertained hopes that he had merely been admitted to hospital again.
The Old Man was 88 years and 3 months old.
I phoned cousin Z, and the daughter of the Old Man’s nephew C, and M the widow of the Old Man’ elder brother number 2.
Then I phoned Mr & Mrs HJ, but received only an answering-machine response.
