This was the most restful day I have spent at Peakville for a long time.
On the way back from shopping at the Cheesepare supermarket, at about 09:15, I noticed that the estate agent’s sign in the garden of Mrs AD’s mother’s house had been removed. Through the front window of the lounge, I could see that the room’s contents had been cleared out. A driveway was being constructed in the side-garden — which had necessitated demolishing the old brick wall that separated the garden from the pavement. On the grass verge, there was a skip full of debris. The young man who was also present was, I should think, a workman rather than the new owner.
