At Bert’s, the blue car was parked in the place of the little silver hatchback. The only other car on the forecourt was the maroon four-door pickup truck. Both men and both women were behind the counter. Tall Woman was drinking a can of soft drink.
There were only two customers ahead of me: a woman at the head of the queue, and a man — both in their fifties. So Bert’s does not seem to get much custom at the moment.
Someone had left a wheeled blue basket, the property of a supermarket, on the roadway outside Mr & Mrs JG’s house. I removed it from there, as a preliminary to binning it.
