Brush and shovel

Saturday 26 January 2013

The Ojays’ car is parked alongside the corner shop when I drive past, on my way to the Old Man’s house. After I turn in to Acacia Grove, in my mirror I see the Ojays’ car heading uphill.
Snow on the ground makes it difficult to get onto the Old Man’s driveway. From the pantry, I fetch the brush that the Deceased Lady once used to give an aggressive tomcat a fright; then I fetch the snow-shovel out of the garage.
There is some snow on the roof of the school, towards the western end, but the roof is largely clear of snow.
I keep thinking it’s Sunday.
At 18:47 I see raindrops on the landing window.
